Right Brain Genius is based on Betty Edwards book “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” which I first borrowed from the library in 1992. After teaching myself how to draw, I voluntarily taught about 60 kids aged between 11 and 12 years of age how to draw using the principles from Betty’s book.

This created vast interest from the parents who also wanted to learn how to draw, so I sought permission from Betty Edwards to teach her work. I am very grateful to Betty Edwards for her work and find great satisfaction in knowing that I can bring the joy of drawing to my students.

“Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” was first published in 1979. It has sold more than 2.5 million copies and has been translated into 13 languages. It is the world’s most widely used drawing instruction book. I travelled to New York in October 2007 to do the ‘Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain’ 5-day beginners and 2 day advanced courses with Betty Edwards’ son Brian Bomeisler. Brian has been teaching the course for over 20 years.Over the years, Helen Joy has successfully taught thousands of people how to master the art of drawing using Betty’s approach and while the focus of the workshop is on drawing, absolutely no previous art training or special talent for drawing is necessary.

During the course, you will learn how to un-lock the Right (creative) side of your brain so you can finally give the Left (analytical) side of your brain a rest.

The classes are informative, inspiring and definitely life changing.
