Goji Juice: The Latest Buzz in the Health Food Industy!

The latest buzz in the health food Industry is GOJI - the Americanised version of the Chinese word "gou qi".

The botanical name for Goji is Lycium barbarum. The Lycium genus has over 90 species of plants - It is Lycium barbarum that is known in China for its medicinal properties and is one of the most popular tonics used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

One of the key benefits of Goji is its high antioxidant level. Antioxidants play a significant role in the body's defence against excess levels of free radicals and the damage they can cause. These antioxidants include carotenoids, vitamins C and E and bio-flavonoids.

Goji berries contain very high levels of Vitamin C and beta-carotene, high levels of the carotenoid zeaxanthin (associated with eye health), and small amounts of Vitamin E, which is very unusual for a fruit. Add to this an extensive list of bioflavonoids, sesquiterpenoids, minerals and amino acids and you can understand how Goji berries are often referred to as one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet.

The current Goji market has been driven by USA MLM Company Himalayan Goji. The first Australian manufactured Goji juice on the market was Tree of Health Goji.

Tree of Health uses authenticated Lycium barbarum sourced from China. "We use a high quality Goji extract which has been independently tested for polysaccharide content and antioxidant strength. We know it is a quality product," said Helen Russell, director of Tree of Health.

Summer's Here & it's Time to Get Active: The Cool Way!

With the warmer weather finally arriving you may be looking for a cooler alternative to stay physically fit this summer. So why not give swimming a go! Swimming works your whole body, improving cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength, endurance, posture and flexibility all at the same time.

It's also a lower impact form of exercise when compared with running, cycling or weight training. For this reason there is a low risk of injury because there's no stress on the joints, bones or connective tissue due to the buoyancy of water. This means swimming is suitable for a wide range of people from the elderly to pregnant women or those who may be returning to exercise after injury.

However if swimming laps doesn't sound like your thing there are many alternatives in the water, such as Aqua Aerobics or Deep water running, and the great thing is all these activities will keep you out of the summer heat.

When looking for a pool why not check out the many venues that Belgravia Leisure manages. Belgravia Leisure management group operate 6 swimming pools for local government across the greater Brisbane. These facilities are as far north as Dayboro and as close to the city as the Valley Pool in Fortitude Valley. Other locations are Murrumba Downs Pool, Albany Creek Leisure Centre, Lawnton Swimming pool and Pathways Leisure in North Lakes.

So why not get active today and give swimming a try!

The Art of Handling Defining Moments: Emotional Intelligence in Action!

Emotional Intelligence is a concept that has currency in the commercial arena.

At its core are five personal competencies.

1. Self awareness of emotions.
2. Managing your emotions.
3. Self motivation, emotional self control, and getting into the flow state.
4. Empathy.
5. Handling relationships.

The notion of emotional competency or intelligence raises a number of questions for each one of us.

o How do you know exactly what emotion you are feeling at a point in time?
o How do you manage your way out of one emotion and into another more productive emotion?
o What is the state of emotional flow and how can it be used to benefit your goals?
o How do you empathise‚ without triggering your own emotional reaction?
o How do you know your emotions have integrity so that you are able to maintain relationships based on authenticity?

Understanding the Hierarchy of Emotions
Just how do you think and feel your way through this hierarchy? Dennis Oosterman will cover these in his sessions with you. Dennis is a facilitator of a defined range of vibrational essences, which deal with the emotions in the hierarchy, allowing people to release unhelpful emotions and to build helpful emotions.

Dennis commenced Quantum Leap Consulting and the Wizards Workshop in 2003 to market the range of vibrational essences aimed at releasing emotions stored in the body. The intent of the vibrational essences is to allow people to clear the emotions that constrict their life, such as depression and abandonment, release limiting emotions, like anger and sorrow, and then to build the expanding emotions such as hope and love. The essences work on re-balancing those frequencies and releasing emotions regardless of how or why they exist. This is a context free‚ approach to healing and releasing emotions, as it works on changing the vibration rather than the event.

6. Hipatitis (n): Terminal coolness.

7. Osteopornosis (n): A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

8. Karmageddon (n): It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer.

9. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

10. Glibido (v): All talk and no action.

11. Dopeler effect (n): The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

12. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.

13. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

For a Good Cause: Why support the Fred Hollows Foundation?

The Fred Hollows Foundation is a not-for-profit, community-based, non-government development aid organisation. The Foundation was launched in Sydney, Australia on 3 September 1992, just five months before Professor Fred Hollows passed away. Our vision is of a world where no one is needlessly blind and of a land where Indigenous people enjoy the same health outcomes as all Australians. Get the latest company information and read our guiding values. We work with blindness prevention organisations in Asia, Africa and the Pacific:

* To develop or strengthen the local health infrastructure, and

* To seek sustainable solutions to issues of inequitable access to health programs and affordability of services.

Through skills training programs and the development of new technologies, we have helped to restore the sight of more than 1,000,000 people worldwide..
